What exactly is a Dessert Mix?

The Dessert Mix is a natural, plant-based dry mix that when combined with your favorite alcoholic beverage creates a one-of-a-kind treat right out of the microwave in 8 minutes.

Are the Dessert Mixes gluten free?

No.

Are the Dessert Mixes dairy free?

Yes.

Are the Dessert Mixes nut free?

Yes, our mixes our, however they are manufactured in a facility that processes many different types of tree nuts, so they will not be suitable for those with severe nut allergies. 

Are the Dessert Mixes vegan friendly?

Yes, the ingredients are all natural and plant derived.

Are the Dessert Mixes kosher friendly?

No

Does the dessert still contain measurable amounts of alcohol after it’s been cooked in the microwave?

Yes, the alcohol is still in the dessert and does not burn off since there is not enough cooking time to have it evaporate. We do not recommend serving this to minors. Please enjoy responsibly.  

Can I make this dessert alcohol free? 

Yes! Just replace the amount of alcohol recommended with water. 

How long does the product last?

Please see expiration date printed on your product for the best by date. Our dessert mixes are usually used all at once, but if you choose to bake only part of a mix, we recommend using the remaining dry mix within 30 days after opening. Always store our products in a cool, dry place.

Why are your products more expensive than mainstream baking mixes? 

Our products use high quality, natural plant-based ingredients that are much more expensive to source than the refined white flours, sugars, corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, and artificial flavors and colors you’ll find in most baking mixes at the grocery store. We are committed to providing a healthier alternative, and feel it’s worth it to invest in a high quality product that you’ll be proud to share at all your special occasions. 

The Baking Process

Can I eat the raw cake batter?

We do not recommend consuming the raw batter. Please make sure to bake according to the package instructions before consuming our dessert. 

What type of pans may I use in the microwave?

Glass pans appropriately labeled for microwave cooking maybe used. Silicone pans may also be used.

Why do you recommend an 8” or 9” pan?

Pan dimensions were tested in multiple microwaves. Some microwaves did not fit a 9” pan so an 8" pan was used.

Are the times recommended for a certain type of microwave?

The recommended time for baking was based on a 1000 watt microwave. If a lower wattage is utilized, the amount of time will need to be increased by 1-2 minutes.

How do I know when the dessert is done?

Follow the recommended time designed for a 1000 watt microwave. Check the cake by placing a toothpick in the center of the cake. It should come out clean.

Can I make my own glaze?

Yes! Mix 2 cups of powdered sugar and add 2-3 Tbsp of your favorite booze used for the cake. Whisk together until smooth. Pour over cooled cake.

Can I make the cake mixes into cupcakes?

Yes! Use Any muffin or cupcake pan labeled for microwave cooking maybe used. Start with a cook time of 4 minutes and check the cake by placing a toothpick in the center of the cupcake to see if it’s done. It should come out clean when done. Time may vary depending on microwave wattage. 

Do I have to line the pan with parchment paper before baking the desserts?

We highly recommend lining the microwavable pan with parchment paper before baking for best results. This not only allows you easily remove the cake from the pan in one piece, but also ensures more even baking, helps retain moisture, and reduces clean up for you! If you choose not to line your pan with parchment paper, we recommend using a thoroughly greased microwavable pan

What if I don’t like the products after trying them?

We are super confident that you’ll love our products, but in the small chance that you don’t enjoy them, please send an email to hello@dessertmixologist.com with the details of your concern and we will do our best to make it right.

Ordering

Can I return my order?

To ensure all customers receive fresh product, we do not accept returns. If you have an issue with your order, please email hello@dessertmixologist.com and we’ll do our best to make it right.

Can I cancel or change my order?

We are not able to cancel or make changes to orders, as orders usually begin shipping immediately after they are placed. If you have any questions or issues with an order you placed, please reach out to  hello@dessertmixologist.com and we will do our best to accommodate.

Are there any discount codes available?

No, not at this time, but please make sure to subscribe to our email list to be notified if we ever offer other discounts!

My order arrived damaged. What should I do?

We carefully package and check our products prior to shipment in order to lower the chances of damaged orders. In the rare case of a damaged or defective item, please email us at hello@dessertmixologist.com  with a photo of the affected item(s) and we will be happy to assist with sending out a replacement.

The product I wanted is out of stock. Will there be a re-stock?

We make our products in small batches to ensure you are always receiving the freshest product. If products go out of stock, we will do our best to re-stock them as soon as possible. Make sure to sign up on the appropriate product page where it says "notify me when available," and we’ll send you an email as soon as products have been re-stocked.

Do you offer gift cards?

No, not at this time, but this is something we are looking into offering in the future. 

Do you offer product bundles?

Yes. Please advise that bundles are not eligible for additional sales or discounts. Bundles are subject to change at any time. Available while supplies last.

Can I send an order as a gift?

Yes! To send an order as a gift, enter a gift message to the recipient in the box indicated in the cart. Doing so will automatically tell the system to use a gift receipt. We do not offer gift wrap at this time.

Shipping, Returns & Exchanges

We use all major carriers, and local courier partners. You’ll be asked to select a delivery method during checkout.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Standard shipping transit time is 3-7 business days. We also offer an expedited 2-day shipping option for orders in the continental US. Please note that we cannot guarantee any shipping timeframes, as unexpected weather or carrier delays may arise. Orders placed Monday-Friday before 12pm EST ship the same day in most cases. You'll receive an email with tracking information as soon as your order ships. How much does shipping cost?

The shipping rate we charge varies depending on the total size of the order and where the order is being shipped. We charge a variable rate in order to give you the lowest possible rate. You can see the shipping rate for your particular order size and location during the checkout process.
